reading a book "The Shaping of Black America The Struggles and Triumphs of African-Americans, 1619 to the 1900s. by Lerone Bennett, Jr. it's rather interesting. talks about (so far) the first generation of blacks here not being slaves but indentured servants who worked side by side with white indentured servants as race at this point in history wasn't an issue. class was. - this makes sense as the first "americans" landed here were english. talks about eventually blacks becoming slaves and certain groups of whites forced into life-long servatude (germans, scotts, irish, and other undesirables in england kidnapped and brought over). then goes into what we know from history books until the present.

My Birthday
Spent most of my birthday with my sunshine which was very nice. First we went to Venice and sat people watched while drinking margaritas at the sidewalk cafe and then headed over to our favorite tapas restaurant where we enjoyed lots of free spanish finger food and sangria (the sweet potato french fries are always my favorite) curt. of his good friend and bandmate T.
My lovely man got me 12 dozen roses that are beginning to bloom. The gift was especially nice because he picked a pink one for me from the garden the other day that's blooming and last week got me a bouquet of yellow flowers that haven't died yet. My "office" room is full of flowers which makes the room shine and smell incredible. He also included a few hand written cards that truth be told, when I opened them and read them I cried.
I loved the flowers and cards. Those types of gift makes me the happiest. Simple acts and expressions of love thrill me to death. It's sappy but...my type of romance. A handwritten card is worth so much more than a diamond in my world.
Flying high. Yesterday was a good day.
